Andrea Chaffin, a 2011 graduate, captured two first-place awards for investigative reporting and best feature writer at the May 6 Associated Press Society's 2011 newspaper competition results banquet, part of the AP's annual convention held in Columbus. Chaffin majored in journalism and political science. She is currently a staff writer for the Wilmington News Journal in Wilmington, Ohio.


Harry Liggett, 81, of Akron,  a 1953 journalism grad, administers a blog for retired and former employes of the Akron Beacon Journal.  The blog, BJ Alums, began in July, 2004 and has more than 100 viewers a day from around the world. News of Beacon Journal alums  along with. breaking news and photos about the Beacon Journal and other news media is posted daily.


ZuriHall_EMMYZuri Hall ('10, Strategic Communication) received an Emmy Award as  "Outstanding Talent - Host" from the Lower Great Lakes Chapter's for her work as the Face of MyINDY-TV on June 18, 2011. In her role with Channel 23 in Indianapolis, Hall interviews celebs, cover Indianapolis events, make public appearances, and tape commercials and PSAs for the station. She is also an official emcee for the NBA's Indiana Pacers, the WNBA's Indiana Fever, and the MiLB's Indianapolis Indians. More information can be found at her website at www.ZuriHall.com

Mark Rudner ’78 is Senior Associate Commissioner of the Big Ten Conference and has worked with the Big Ten Conference for 32 years.

Terry Briggs '81 is Self employed as Production Director for a television production company in Arlington, TX with clients that include NBA Entertainment, the North Texas Super Bowl 45 Host Committee and the AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic. Also a subcontractor for Grand Prairie TV as host and producer on several cable access and webcasts for the City of Grand Prairie, TX.

Bill Menner ’84 was appointed by the White House to serve as Iowa State Director of USDA Rural Development. Bill is responsible for 11 offices and 115 employees who work to improve the lives of rural Iowans by funding housing, community facility, water and sewer, business and energy projects.

Richard Crofton ’87is news editor for the regional copy desk at the Oshkosh Northwestern (Gannett). Richard is responsible for the Northwestern, Fond du Lac and Sheboygan newspapers and oversees the design staff.

Mark Mesesan MA ’88 is Communications Specialist for URS Corporation at the U.S. Army's Tooele (Utah) Chemical Agent Disposal Facility (TOCDF) and has earned the International Association of Business Communicators' (IABC's) designation as an Accredited Business Communicator (ABC).

Mary Schuneman '89 is now Director of Public Policy for Strategies 360, a boutique public affairs firm with offices in the state of Washington, Washington DC, Alaska, Idaho, Montana and Oregon. She lives in Seattle with her husband, Greg Williams, and their son and daughter.

Wendi Klein ’03is Director of North American Marketing & Communications for A2iA, a worldwide leading software developer.

Amy McCullough ’04 is a senior editor at Air Force Magazine in Arlington, Va.

Joanna Hoffman ’07 graduated in July from the FIFA Master with an master’s  in International Sports Management. She was recruited by the International Olympic Committee to write her dissertation on “Olympic Sporting Legacy: Proposals for a successful Post-Games Transition.” She is now living in Lausanne, Switzerland working for TSE Consulting, an International Sports Management Consultancy.

Michael Gerschutz '08 is a multimedia developer designing and developing pieces for web and kiosk information.

Sarah Hrusovsky ‘08 is an associate publicist at Rubenstein Public Relations in New York City, following two years at New York-based public relations firm Berns Communications Group.
